It’s another day.

These hands are dried and cracked; these eyes are weary with persistence.

The ice and snow outside these walls make a winter’s nap all too enticing.

. . .

I like coffee.

In fact, I think I like the idea of coffee more than the product itself.

It’s a treat, but also a household staple in the lives of so many.

We’re human. We’re tired. And by god, we deserve a steaming mug of water filtered over pulverized beans.

Surely that’s not too much to ask.

In St. Petersburg, Russia, we strolled through an underground shopping center of sorts. In an unassuming corner, there stood a vending machine that read in loud, bold letters:

TIME FOR A REST, TIME FOR A COFFEE.

Yes. Yes. it. is.

. . .

So wherever you are today, Dear Reader, take time for a rest. Maybe coffee’s not your drink of choice, but the moment is yours for the taking.

Don’t promise yourself that you’ll finally rest when the weekend hits, or when your list is accomplished, or when you have a pocketful of money for that rainy day.

Do it now, love.

Take an extra cookie.

Wear that pill-balled sweatshirt that looks ridiculous but is just so damn cozy.

Because life is tough sometimes, and a break should be allowed.

You deserve it; we all do.
