Good evening, lovelies.
Guess what?!
Mama Snap got out of the house today!
My first “stop” was to the CVS drive-through. The woman who came to the window not only donned the legally-mandated face mask, but also had on false eyelashes that would have embarrassed a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race. They were mesmerizing, and I complimented her. Both of us appeared to smile beneath our COVID-19 assembles.
Next was the obligatory, socially-distanced walk through the grocery store. Oh, people. How they forget. How they think the rules do not apply to them. It took me approximately 38 seconds to miss the cozy confines of my own home. My husband, our son. Our cats. Just us, yo.
But the best part of the outing? Cranking Ben Folds on my stereo and feeling the bass thump against my rib cage. Tapping my fingers in time on the steering wheel.
I let the music wash away any and all feelings of drudgery. I smiled. I sang.
I missed my friends so much I thought my little heart would burst.
We will make up for lost time.
I know it.
