Cashing In.

I’d like to cash in all of the wasted worry my brain has so tirelessly generated over the years.

I’d dump ‘em all in a big ol’ sack and march right up to the ticket counter.

What’ll this get me? I’d ask with a grin, scanning the knickknacks beyond.

I’d get polka-dot teapots and pencils with fruit-scented wrappers;

Keychains of dolphins; tubes of strawberry lipstick; a beaded purse with a cheap golden clasp.

And as I walked out, fully stocked with plastic ambition, I’d vow tomorrow would be worth my while.

  2. Brought back memories of cashing in my tickets at arcades for stuff I thought I really needed. I probably lost all that stuff within an hour of getting it…
