Ahh. What a day.
Albeit quite busy with baby, there were so many small delights:
This morning I looked outside and saw a brilliant red cardinal. He was pecking away at our herbs, in what I can only assume was a joyful fashion. He looked like a drawing, or a childrenโs illustration. How lovely.
Then this afternoon, I decided to revive my potted SnapDragon. I cannot tell you how exceptionally satisfying it was when I found her, several weeks ago, sprouted and blooming and looking like a fairyโs wedding cake. The Sweet Husband and I had exerted precisely zero effort on our garden thus far, so to see nature finding a way was, of course, a comfort all of its own.
And to top off my day of splendor, Dear Reader, I saw a wren feed her two (or three?) young ones in the nest they built in our hanging begonias. I saw her deposit the meal carefully inside each beak. It was so simple, so loving, and so innocent.
And my heart, it did rejoice.
