Two-Bit Musings.

The Snap Abides.

I must admit: the first time I saw The Big Lebowski, I thought it was over-hyped.

And then years later, as I re-watched and re-watched it in little casual, bite-sited pieces, I was hooked.

It instantly relaxes me.

. . .

You may be surprised that I am (clears throat) a bit neurotic.

Shocking, I know.

More often than not, I get inside my own head:

I create dooms-day scenarios. I feel germs lurking on every surface.

I berate myself for not having completed my novel; for not cooking a four-course dinner from scratch; for not filling my non-existent studio with finished pieces of timeless art.

I do, Dear Reader, tend to make much ado about nothing.

. . .

So I’m wearing my Dude sweater today. And probably will tomorrow, too.

Because sometimes I just need to chill, yo.

So here’s to a weekend filled with cozy socks, too much coffee, and snort-laughing over life’s little oddities.

. . .

What relaxes you, Dear Reader?

  1. I have no interest in cooking, so that’s one less thing I have to worry about.

As for me, my go to for relaxing is the King of Queens – always good for a laugh or two…

  2. What relaxes me is floating on a timeless sea of adventure nowadays in my mind:)

  3. Seeing the stars on a clear night,
Seeing the horizon from the top of Mcrae’s Peak at Grandfather Mt,
    Baby animals,
    Being with thoughtful kind people,
All put me into a reference frame that says eternity and life are so much bigger than what I think needs my input.

  4. Love The Dude Sweater … share your appreciation of neurosis. “Nothingness” relaxes me. Almost impossible to attain. I also reach for an old sweater-jacket (ca. mid-90s … yeah, I know). It has a Southwestern (Santa Fe?) motif. Its pilly and perfectly free-of-buttons to confine. Its my cape of serenity and sanctuary. Transforms me into smallness, where I do my best me. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. You have a Dude sweater. That is so cool. It really brings the blog together. Watching Star Trek relaxes me. Next Generation from season 5 on. My family thinks I’m crazy for watching it so much (admittedly, lately, I haven’t), but when I really boil it down, I watch it for the relaxation effect it has on me. It’s become a “familiar” environment. Yes, I probably know the dialog and can listen without watching, but I get a certain amount of Zen out of it.
