Two-Bit Musings.

Pretty Good.

I am pretty good at waking up before the alarm.

I am pretty good at writing on chalkboards.

I am pretty good at disarming people with logic and reason.

I am pretty good at parallel parking. (Okay. I’m actually pretty badass at this.)

I am pretty good at seeing the best in people.

. . .

I am pretty good at remembering names.

I am pretty good at wearing all of the sneakers I own.

I am pretty good at taking casually-artistic photos. (Not of myself, obviously.)

. . .

I am pretty good at brushing my teeth twice a day.

I am pretty good at singing the harmony.

I am pretty good at making everyone feel included.

I am pretty good at maximizing coupon savings.

. . .

I am pretty good at appreciating the strength of my own body.

I am pretty good at listening to the many layers within a song.

I am pretty good at making something out of nothing.

. . .

I am pretty good at being an out-of-the-classroom teacher, paint-on-her-slippers artist, and Dr. Seuss-quoting mom to The World’s Cutest 11-Month-Old.

And I think that is just lovely, friend.

I do.

. . .

A special thanks to Writer of Words for suggesting this yin to yesterday’s yang! Or, would it be yang to yin? You know what I mean. šŸ™‚

A Good Morning to you and yours, Dear Reader!

I’m taking a tiny moment between my icy sips to contemplate this game of life.

(Wait. It’s not a game. A . . .dance? Slip ‘n Slide? Carnival Freak Show? I don’t fuckin’ know.)

ANYWAY.

I think we can all agree that things can be rather overwhelming at times.

And if you’re anything like me, the anxiety of what lies ahead can steal your joy in an instant.

What if I sleep in? What if she took that the wrong way? What if I wreck the car? What if I’m on my way to morbid obesity? What if those ‘beauty marks’ are actually cancer? What if everyone hates me?

What if. What if. What if.

Well Snap, I want to remind you that you’ve already survived your worries. Every tomorrow you’ve worried about has become today, and in turn, yesterday.

Life. goes. on.

Some how, some way, we make it through.

Because every single one of us is stronger than we think.

You got this.

Poem 3. Written by SnapDragon X.

. . .

i will not stop.

the cause is too important.

among the pencil shavings and piles of seemingly perfunctory paper

i continue to speak.

i see you.

i hear you.

i love you.

and i will not give up the fight.

A Letter to My Working Self.

A Letter to My Working Self.

Because we are more than our jobs.

It’s Just Another Day, 2018. Stockholm. Original Photo by SnapDragon X. All rights reserved.

Dear Working Woman:

Wake up. Perhaps put on a little makeup. (Or don’t.)

Sip a little something at the kitchen table. Let your peepers adjust to the light of the morning sun.

As the cuckoo announces the start of another working day, relish the opportunity before you.

It’s another day to be in the world, love.

It’s another day to use your mind, your hands, your heart.

Speak with intelligence. Speak with respect.

Speak the truth, however unpopular it may be.

Because you cannot control how others perceive you.

They will judge.

They will misunderstand.

All you can do is try.

Live honestly.

Live with integrity.

Be true to yourself, girl.

‘Cause you’ve got nothing to lose.
